What we do
We’ve been building and maintaining award winning landscapes since 1989. We are a locally owned, fast-growing company leading the residential and commercial landscape industry throughout the front range.
Team means everything to us, and we strongly believe that great culture grows great teams. Culture at Environmental Designs is managed by a committee open to all employees. We meet monthly, and during time we discuss and plan ways to boost culture throughout the organization. We also review nominations for individual and team recognition, we collectively vote on the GEM award (Going the Extra Mile) and the TEAM award (Together We Achieve More); these awards determine the employee of the month winners.
Our monthly office events are popular among employees. These events are planned by our culture committee and the theme changes every month. In the past we’ve had barbeques, cook outs, taco trucks, surprise breakfasts, hosted dinners, and much more. We are always looking for new ways to celebrate and say thanks for the hard work our teams put in to make us the best.
Our annual summer picnic is always a big hit with the entire family! Our parties feature food trucks, bounce castles, face painting, mechanical bulls, over $5,000 in prizes, and lots of fun games and great conversation. Our annual holiday party is a very memorable affair. It is a fun-filled night with casino games, great food, drinks, games, prizes, a DJ, and dancing.
Not only do we celebrate on an annual and monthly basis, but we also show our appreciation to our associates weekly by celebrating on Thursdays with a happy hour social after work.
Our culture is widely recognized, and it shows. It can be seen on community bulletin boards and monthly employee newsletters and because of this we tend to receive many employee referrals.
We truly believe we are a family, and we show that by offering scholarship opportunities for our team members and their families. We offer five $1000 scholarships and one $5000 scholarship every semester. The application process is easy, and we award the winners at our Summer and Holiday Party for the following school semester.
Safety is our number one priority. Our goal is to have a 100% safe work environment. To achieve this, we provide our crews and managers with mandatory safety training and skills training. Our Safety Committee meets monthly to review any accidents and near misses. They provide guidance and adjust trainings with the goal of being 100% accident-free.
We offer a benefits package to our employees that can include medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, accident insurance, and critical illness. Opting for these benefits can also include a discount on select gym memberships. We have a competitive 401k retirement plan with a generous company match. We provide paid time off hours that are available right when you begin working with us. Additionally, we offer holiday pay, holiday bonuses, and opportunities to work overtime hours. We also have a referral bonus program for employees that refer candidates to joining our team.
Career Development and Training
Our company provides ongoing training, growth opportunities, and certifications for specific skill sets. The cost for this type of education is paid for by the company. However, to help aid with other costs of education, Environmental Designs has scholarship opportunities for the spring and fall semesters each year. We also have an internship program available to students in the summer. Our internship program is customizable and we try to give students a well-rounded view and experience of every aspect of the industry.
Our mission is to have a positive impact on our community, helping organizations and individuals achieve the most. One of our projects was a donation of landscape materials and labor for the International Hearing Dog Association. Their mission is to match dogs with individuals who are deaf and hard of hearing. We volunteered to help improve the outdoor space for these special dogs. We have also fully landscaped properties for several veterans from the Wounded Warriors Project. We encourage team members to give back and we support community involvement.
We are a local company dedicated to sustainability and leaving the environment in better shape than before. We have numerous staff members certified in Sustainable Landscape Management from the Association of Landscape Contractors of Colorado. We install and maintain projects according to LEED requirements. We are continuously working to reduce our carbon footprint and improve wherever possible. We recycle used engine oil to heat our shop, compost all leaves and biodegradable material that is created on our jobsites, we use this compost to produce topsoil in-house, our wood waste is mulched and recycled.
